We know islands like Hvar and Brac have beautiful beaches, but their remote locations make them less accessible to those traversing the Balkans by car. So here are the top 3 beaches on the mainland portion of the Country:

Nugel Beach
1. Nugal Beach: This beach, which translates literally to ‘nude beach’ (which it is), is an isolated beach carved out of the limestone rock. Access is by way of a precarious hike down the cliff face, but the payoff is well worth it.

Kamen Brela – Symbol of Brela
2. Brela Beach: Mostly surrounded by private condos and houses, this beach offers a quiet reprieve from the other crowded public beaches. Best to reach using a moped or bike, which can be easily parked to avoid parking tickets. The water here is exceptionally clear, and the surrounding rock formations shield the area from waves.

Primošten Beach
3. Primošten Beach: Known for having some of the clearest waters in the world (See #15), we can vouch for this indignation…even when swimming in deep water you can clearly see your toes and rocky sea floor.
